SENIOR 6 IB ART VISIT TO THE STUDIO OF ISIDRO CON WONG: On Thursday 24th of August, Senior 6 IB Visual Arts students were fortunate to visit the art studio of the Costa Rican artist Isidro Con Wong. Valentina, María Paula, María Fe, Queenie, Mariana and Rocío were suitably inspired by the presentation of his art work by his son Isidro Con.  It was an excellent visit that gave a great insight into the style and oeuvre of the artwork on display.  The visit was truly inspiring for the IB Visual Arts group.

DUKE OF EDINBURGH – LA MARTA RESERVE: Last weekend a group of Senior 4 students visited the La Marta Reserve in Cartago to complete their qualifying expedition for the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Students prepared and carried everything they needed to be self-sufficient for the 2 day/1night expedition. Despite challenging weather conditions on the first day, the groups were able to successfully complete their expedition aims including discovering more about the history of the reserve and observing and recording the flora and fauna of the area.  Well done to all involved.

SENIOR 1, 2 AND 3 SCIENCE FAIR:  The BSCR Annual Science Fair will be held on Friday 8th of September.  The exhibits, designed and created by the students of Senior 1, 2 and 3, will be displayed in Laboratories 1, 2 and 3, and the Auditorium.  The fair starts at 1:00 pm; with Primary students attending until 2:00 pm.  Parents are invited to view the students' projects from 2:00 pm until the close of the fair at 4:00 pm.

SPANISH AND CAS DEPARTMENTS: During this week, students, from Senior 1 to Senior 4, have been competing in the preliminary rounds of the House Spelling Contest, which is an inter-curricular activity between the Spanish and Co-Curricular departments.  From each group of contestants, three winners were chosen who qualified for the semifinals to be held on 13th of September at 12:30 pm in the Auditorium.  Through this activity not only do our students have fun but they also improve their spelling skills and with it, enhance the Spanish language which is the foundation of our cultural identity.
