School Fees and other Quotas 2012

Under the condition whereby the official  (Banco Central) Colón – U.S. Dollar “selling” exchange rate is below 600 colones per dollar, then the school shall require payments to be made in the Costa Rican National currency, the colon, at an exchange rate of 600 colones to the U.S. Dollar.

Under the condition whereby the offical “selling” exchange rate of the Central Bank of Costa Rica is equal to or greater than 600 colones to the U.S. Dollar, then payments may be made in Dollars U.S. or in colones as calculated by applying the official (Banco Central) “selling” exchange rate on that day.

1. Admission Quota:   ¢ 600,000  -  paid one time by the family

2. Annual Payments:

a) MATRICULA 2012*:  the cost will be:

Early Years:  ¢ 295,500
    Primary:  ¢ 328,500
    Senior 1-3:  ¢ 393,000
    Senior 4-7:  ¢ 424,000

b) TEXT BOOKS: (Per student, per year – payment of this quota also covers MOST of the workbooks that accompany the courses)

Rent and Deposit of Textbooks : 

EY2 & Primary:  ¢ 84,000  Rent* + ¢ 84,000 
   Seniors: ¢ 96,000  Rent* +  ¢ 96,000 deposit

c) INS Student Insurance (against accidents):  Approx ¢ 15,000

d) School Uniforms: Prices fixed by local, authorized suppliers.

TUITION FEES :  Can be paid annually, by Semester or each month over 12 months (see below) ...

3. Monthly Payments:

a) TUITION FEES: (Each month over 12 months) Payment of these fees also covers some of the notebooks, school materials, official trips and excursions, external exams, school photos and a Yearbook. These fees do not cover school bus transport.

Early Years:  ¢ 295,500
    Primary:  ¢ 328,500
    Senior 1-3:  ¢ 393,000
    Senior 4-7:  ¢ 424,000

b) LATE FEE:   ¢ 9,000 in respect of every 15 days overdue.

c) SCHOOL BUS SERVICE: (For 9 complete months and half of July)   2 ways** or 1 way* :

San José:  ¢ 49,250**  or  ¢ 39,500*
    Provinces:  ¢ 52,450**  or  ¢ 42,600*

Special Ticket:  ¢ 3,000

4. Other Fees: The school may charge for other services such as special classes and Study Hall

*For students commencing at mid-year, items marked * can be paid pro rata at 50% for the second semester of the year.
