Trevor Davies British School of Costa Rica P.O. Box 8184 San Jose 1000, Costa Rica
Dear Trevor:
The Commission on American and International Schools Abroad (CAISA) of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) considered the report on the Five Year Visit to the British School of Costa Rica submitted by Peggy Kirkpatrick (CIS) and Patrice McCarthy (NEASC) subsequent to their visit to the school on March 9-10, 2009, as well as considering the Five Year Report from the School. Upon consideration of these documents, CAISA voted to continue the School’s accreditation until its next report. Congratulations.
CAISA noted a number of commendations made by the Visitors in the Five Year Report and would like to commend the School for:
- The many, positive developments in the five years since the Visiting Team Report.
- The availability of many resources to support the delivery of the curriculum.
- The implementation of a wireless network system campus-wide.
- The effort on the part of the school’s staff to expand classroom storage, and office space as part of the facility expansion.
- The many examples of the school actively striving for excellence.
During its discussion of the Visitors’ Report, CAISA noted a number of recommendations which warrant attention by the School. The primary recommendation is to continue on the positive trend line established by the present administration, teaching, and support staff over the past five years.
The next stage in the accreditation cycle will be the Preparatory Visit in the Fall of 2012. Following the Visit, the School will undertake a comprehensive Self-Study to be completed before the next Team Visit in the Spring of 2014. .
Again, our congratulations on the continued health and improvement of the School. Do let us know if we can be of help at any time. Best wishes as you strive to enhance the quality of education for your students. We value your membership in the community of schools which CAISA accredits.
Sincerely,
Brinton “Pete” Woodward, Jr. Director The Commission on American & International Schools Abroad
P.S. Please note:
1. NEASC and CIS make decisions independently and usually at different times so we may be conveying our decisions on widely differing dates.
2. NEASC and CIS make decisions differently, but surprisingly the two agencies are usually in agreement and in contact with one another. If the decisions are subsequent follow-up dates differ considerably, please contact us to discuss how we can synchronize the dates and differences.
